According dentists and oral health experts, many people don't do their dental hygiene routines properly. Here are some of the common mistakes:
- Brushing your teeth too often or too long. This can erode the enamel on your teeth. Do it 2-3 times a day for two minutes.
- Brushing too hard. This can push back the soft tissue and expose the root area. Use gentle pressure, using small circular motions.
- Brushing right after eating. Wait about 30 minutes after eating. This is neccessary so that saliva neutralizes acid in your mouth.
- Using the wrong toothbrush. Do not use a medium or hard brush. Use soft or extra soft ones.
- Keeping your toothbrush for too long. Change your toothbrush every 90 days.
